Digital Product Passports
A Digital Product Passport is a public page about one variant: what it's made of, how it's made and which certificates cover it. Tr3e builds it from what the variant already has, so there is nothing extra to write.
What a passport shows
- The materials and their composition, such as Cotton 95%, Elastane 5%
- The components, such as buttons, zips and labels
- How it's manufactured
- The certificates that cover its materials and components, such as GOTS or OEKO-TEX
A passport never shows prices.
Before you publish
The passport is only as good as the data behind it. Check that the variant has:
- Its materials and components on the Construction tab.
- A Composition on each material in the Library. The parts must add up to 100%.
- Its processes on the Manufacturing tab.
- Your certificates in Library → Certificates, linked to the materials and components they cover.
Publish a passport
- Open the product and the variant.
- Open the Digital Product Passport menu in the variant's header.
- Choose Preview to check it. Only your own team can see a preview.
- Turn on Published and confirm with Publish. Anyone with the link can now see it.
Share it
Once it's published, the same menu has:
- View live: opens the public page.
- Copy link: copies its address.
- Download QR: a QR code as an SVG, for a care label or a hang tag.
The link and the QR code stay the same, even if you unpublish and publish again. If the variant is linked to your Shopify store, Show on storefront shows the passport there too.
Unpublish
Turn off Published and confirm. The public page then says the passport is inactive.
Certificates and their expiry
In Library → Certificates, each certificate shows how long it has left. A warning appears when fewer than 30 days remain, and turns red under 7, so you can renew it before a passport shows an expired one.
Who can
Owners, admins and members publish and unpublish. Viewers can preview, copy the link and download the QR code.
