How to cost every style
Tr3e adds up materials, components and manufacturing into a live unit cost for every variant. The collection's spend, revenue and profit follow on their own.
Unit cost
A variant's Unit cost is what one piece costs to make: its bill of materials plus its manufacturing. You see it at the top of the variant, compared with the product's Target Price, such as 92% of target.
Until a variant has anything costed, its unit cost is estimated from the Target Price.
Build the bill of materials
Open the variant's Construction tab. It has two sections, Materials and Components.
- Choose + in the section.
- Tick the materials or components from your Library, or choose Create new. Then choose Done.
- On each line, set the Unit price (one of the item's recorded orders) and the Unit count: how much one piece takes, such as 1.6 metres.
The totals update as you type. To reuse another variant's bill of materials, use the import button and pick the variant.
Add manufacturing
Open the variant's Manufacturing tab.
- Choose +, tick the processes from your Library, then Add processes.
- On each line, set the Price per piece and the Min. order (the minimum order quantity).
A price can be very small, such as a label or a print. From a manufacturing line you can also start a purchase order with Create Purchase Order.
Where prices come from
A material or component has no price field. Its price is the unit price of its most recent order, marked Current price. In the Library, open the item and choose Record order to add one.
So when a supplier's price changes, record the new order. Every style that uses it is costed again.
The collection's budget
Every collection has a Budget card. Set the budget in the Collection card, and Tr3e works out the rest from the products:
| Figure | What it is |
|---|---|
| Spent | What the products cost to make at their planned units. With a budget set, you see the share used and when it goes over. |
| Projected revenue | Planned wholesale units × WSP, plus planned retail units × RRP |
| Profit | Projected revenue minus each variant's unit cost × its planned units |
The figures fill in as products get prices (RRP and WSP), planned units on each size, and a bill of materials and manufacturing.
Breakdown on the Budget card lists every material, component and process the collection uses, with what the planned units need beside the minimum order. Badges flag an Order under MOQ or Stock over MOQ.
