Centric PLM alternatives for fashion brands

Centric PLM is one of the largest PLM systems in fashion and consumer goods, sold by custom quote and set up as an implementation project. Smaller brands often want something they can start on in days. This page covers what Centric does and the alternatives brands compare it with.

What Centric covers

Centric Software was founded in Silicon Valley over 20 years ago, and Dassault Systèmes has been its majority owner since 2018. Centric says more than 20,000 brands in over 60 countries go to market with its software. Centric PLM covers design, 2D and 3D tool connections, sourcing, costing, sampling, testing, compliance and launch, with AI built in. Centric also sells separate products for planning and pricing, market intelligence, visual boards and product information.

Centric says its PLM scales from teams of 10 to 20,000 users. For smaller companies it has offered a cloud package called Centric SMB, which still ran customer webinars and a yearly update in 2025. Prices for both are given on request. G2 lists no free trial and an average implementation time of about 6 months, based on user reviews.

If Centric is on your shortlist, the practical questions are the total first-year cost with implementation and training, how long until your team works in it, and how much of it you will use at your size.

How Tr3e differs from Centric

Centric is built for large teams with many categories, markets and systems. Tr3e is built for design-led brands of about 5 to 50 people who want to start on their own in an afternoon. Every style sits in one collection with its colours, sizes, materials and live unit cost, compared with the target price, so the team sees the margin while the design can still change. The collection budget shows spend, projected revenue and profit. The Critical Path dates the milestones back from the purchase order date, and purchase orders come straight from planned units in the supplier's own currency. Tr3e also creates SKUs and barcodes for every size, publishes Digital Product Passports, and works inside Claude and ChatGPT.

Tr3e has no 3D tools, testing, merchandise planning or dedicated tech pack builder. If you need those across a large organisation, Centric or WFX fit that better.

Moving to Tr3e

  1. Export your styles and materials as spreadsheets.
  2. Create your Workspace and fill in its currency, sizes and codes. See Get started with Tr3e.
  3. Add materials, suppliers and certificates to the Library once.
  4. Create the current collection with its products, colours and sizes, and add each variant's materials and manufacturing to see live cost.
  5. Invite the team and suppliers. Viewers and suppliers are free.

Most teams start with the season they are working on now.
